CorelDRAW Essentials is not a current Corel product, but a limited number of copies are still available on the internet. As this update is being written (1/22/11), new copies of CorelDRAW Essentials 2 are available for $14.99 on Amazon.com.

CorelDRAW Essentials was superceded by Corel Graphics Suite. We have Corel Graphics Suite 12. CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 is the current version. Think of this as version 15. "X" is used as Roman numeral 10 (10 + 5 = 15). This is really CorelDRAW Essentials version 15.

The instructions in the chapter Using A Bit Map Draw Program will work well for CorelDraw and CorelDRAW Graphics Suite if you allow just a little flexibility in interpretation here and there.

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 has a snap to objects feature. When you begin using the program, make sure that this feature is not selected by unchecking View>Snap To Objects if it is checked. Later, if you want to experiment, click on Snap To Objects under the View menu (it will then appear with a check mark in a box). You will learn about snap mode in the Using A CAD Program chapter.
